Commercial Locksmith in Dallas

A business key can pass through more hands than anyone remembers. An employee leaves, a spare stops turning up or a tenant takes over a space with no clear key record. Commercial locksmith work starts by deciding who should open which door. LockReach can discuss Dallas business locks, rekeying and suitable master key arrangements.

Make a door list, not just a key count

Include the public entrance, staff entrance, stockroom and any space with restricted access. Write down who controls each one. In a rented Dallas office or retail building, a tenant may be responsible for one door while the owner manages the common entrance and its access system.

Get that approval settled before changing cylinders or ordering hardware. A returned key does not tell you whether copies were made. Rekeying suitable, sound locks can address old keys without replacing every handle, but a loose or unreliable fitting needs repair as a separate matter.

A master key needs a plan behind it

One key may be set up to open several locks while another opens fewer, where the hardware and key system allow it. Decide who needs broader access and who does not. Putting every employee on the widest access level can undermine the reason for organizing the system.

Keep a clear record of issued keys and who approves new copies. Consider how future rooms or tenants might affect the plan. Master keys do not replace a process for recovering keys and removing access when responsibilities change.

The door still has to close and release properly

A latch that misses the strike or a closer that leaves the door standing open can look like a lock problem. Describe how the whole door behaves during normal use. The lock, hinges, frame, closer and any exit hardware need to work together; a new cylinder addresses only one part.

For a shared electronic entrance, establish who administers the system before arranging physical changes. Discuss scheduling around deliveries, staff and building access. Once work is complete, have the authorized person try the agreed keys and the door's ordinary opening and closing functions.

Can existing locks join one master key system?

Only if their design, compatibility and condition support the proposed arrangement. A survey of the actual doors is needed before promising a system or ordering matching parts.

Can a tenant arrange a visit?

A tenant can inquire, but approval depends on who controls the affected door. Call 214-613-0113 and explain whether it is a private suite, shared entrance or landlord-managed system.
